The recurring motif in the guitar is representative of the bleakness and despair of the pandemic. I wrote this tune after I lost everything at once. My father, my grandfather, and all of my gigs. I was at the lowest point in my life. The trumpet starts out slow and melancholy as to signify the depression and sadness of losing loved ones. Toward the midway point to the end the tune starts to pick up in tempo but doesn't change in tonality. This was a choice I made intentionally because in these situations, sometimes it doesn't get better but we have to pick ourselves up and keep moving forward anyway.
