A two-part suite based on two poems--one that reflects my personal journey and growth during these times and the other, born of the thrust towards much needed social change-- the commissioned work's title, suggests that all things happen for a reason---and ultimately, for a GOOD reason. Spoken word was the foundation for the music written. I wrote it originally for solo piano and voice given the uncertainty, during the peak of Covid, of opportunity to rehearse and develop it with others. My desire is to also incorporate others into its performance. This currently posted video, an outgrowth of "Something Holy Hovers", is a duo collaboration (with Morrocon world singer Malika Zarra) in which I incorporated music and spoken word from the commissioned work. More to come, as I seek opportunity to record the new work in its entirety.
