Angel Spark is a song written by Sarah Elizabeth Charles and performed by her band SCOPE. It is a song inspired by a miscarriage that Charles experienced in the Fall of 2020. Approximately 1 in 4 women experience miscarriages. Their occurrence is so common, but oftentimes not discussed or shared widely. With this piece, Charles shares her truth, the difficulties and questions that have arisen from it and the welcoming of new depths of feeling brought about through the process of grief. She chooses to believe that there is a way to carry those we’ve lost with us for eternity and will carry her angel spark with her.
