Rio Sakairi

On March 23rd, 2020 Rio Sakairi and The Jazz Gallery began TJG Online. With the physical shutdown in NYC due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, The Jazz Gallery moved online with virtual and interactive performances, and over the course of 2020-21 presented Livestream Concerts, weekly Lockdown Sessions, Happy Hour Hangs, Zoom Dance parties, the sharing of past archived performances live from The Jazz Gallery, plus special interviews & commentary with both musicians and major figures in the jazz world on our website on our blog. The Lockdown Sessions began on April 11, 2020 as a way to present concerts during the pandemic that mitigated the sound issues that were present in early from-home Livestreams. For the Lockdown Sessions, each of the four musicians from each show present a short set of music pre-recorded from their homes (often including quite amazing video accompaniment) and chat and hang, answering questions and enjoying friendly banter in between sets.
